West Java Surf Camp

12 days from $1,269pp (group discounts available)

You will be met by a driver upon arrival at Jakarta Airport, an after an overnight stay in Jakarta, you depart the next morning for about 11 days surfing on the West Coast of Java. Your tour guide is an English speaking local Indonesian surfer, who will enable you to get the best waves, arrange all transport and will try to assist you with any other needs you may have.

There are no real long paddles, crowds minimal, and the surf is generally consistent and offshore. There are a couple of good rights and some lefts when conditions get bigger. You will be staying at a local losmen, just a walk away from the main breaks in the Cimaja area. When you’re ready to move on your guide will organise transport to the next destination, Ujung Genteng, about three hours away.

Once you have settled in your guide will return to Cimaja. You will stay at the Batu Besar Losmen, located just a short walk from the most consistent wave in the area, Turtles. The big wave spot (Ombak Tujuh) is about an hour away by motor bike, plus Mama’s Left is just a short bike ride away.

Package price includes: your Indonesian Surf Guide, airport transfers, all accommodation on the trip, breakfast at Cimaja, all meals at Ujung Genteng and a T-shirt.

West Java - "Just Dreaming" Boat Charter

10 days from $2,799pp

Includes: return transfers from Jakarta to harbour, 10 days/9 nights air conditioned accommodation, all meals and experienced english-speaking skipper/surf guide.

Panaitan Island is one of the LEAST crowded places in Indonesia when it comes to consistent, quality surf. The waves are generally serious, challenging and hollow! Most of the breaks in this area can only be reached by boat, so this is the best way to surf the area.

Do not be concerned about exclusivity battles between land camps and yacht charters. 'Just Dreaming' has all the rights in the world for their guests to surf here and will put you in the line up at the best locations.

Panaitan Island is home to One Palm Point, a long, fast and hollow left, and Apocalypse, very intense right. Other waves include Napalms, a fun barreling left located inside the bay, Illusions, a right hand point break that is not as reckless as the left at One Palm Point, but just as perfect. There's also a couple of mellow breaks including Pussy's (left) and the Bommie (right). All breaks are fairly close together and easy to check out. Your skipper will get you to the best waves for the given conditions.

You can also relax and explore the amazing natural jungle on land, which is part of the Ujung Kulon National Park, or climb the famous Krakatoa.

PRICES ARE IN NZ$. Please note most of these prices are ex Auckland and subject to currency fluctuations, flight availability and dates of travel. High season surcharges may apply.
