There is a saying in the Tahitian Islands ... the further out from Tahiti the more beautiful the islands are. This is certainly true with Huahine!

Maitai Lapita - 7 nights from $2,399pp

Package includes: return flights (ex Auckland), 1 nights accommodation in Pape'ete on arrival & departure, return flights ex pape'ete to Huahine, airport transfers and 5 nights / 6 days garden bungalow accommodation, free use of snorkelling equipment and kayaks and daily breakfasts.

Huahine is accessible by three flights a day. It is a small beautiful Island with a slow pace of life and of course very good surf.

Maitai Lapita village is located on the waterfront in Fare, in between the beach/lagoon and a lake. There are steps from the beach/lagoon which is right out front. There are two reef passes on this lagoon - Fare and Fiti. Both have a left and right hand surf break on each pass and are fairly consistent with both south and north swells. There are also a handful more scattered around the island.

Fare Pass (right out front) has a left and a right reef break - with the left being slightly longer and working better on the south swells. It's a down the line wave with very nice wall and barrel sections. The Fiti Pass (right) is more of a paddle, being further down the beach. There is nobody there doing surf transfers but many people get picked up by boats heading out there or just paddle.

Maitai have three standards of bungalow: Garden bungalows, Premium Garden bungalows and Lakeside bungalows. All are luxurious and stunningly presented inside and out (the Lakeside are simply stunning!). All rooms include a writing table and chair, mini-bar, room safe for valuables, tea and coffee service, TV, stylish lighting, spacious bathroom, complimentary toiletries, towels, and air-conditioning.

Maitai also have their own bar and restaurant which overlook the pool and out towards the lagoon - so boast stunning views while you relax. They offer a mix of traditional Tahitian and French cuisine. The resort prides itself on its warm, welcoming and professional service and is only too happy to make your stay an enjoyable and memorable one. Depending on the season, a Polynesian night will be offered at the Omai Restaurant; the evening’s entertainment includes a Polynesian musical group, dancing and singing! There are also many other restaurants and snack bars with local music every night a short stroll away in the Fare township.

Apart from the un-crowded surf, Huahine also offers some breath-taking activities and attractions. The snorkelling around the island is second to none - with some tours also offering to snorkel and feed black tip reef sharks. Other options are the hire of bikes, scooters and jet skis to explore, tours to pearl farms, hiking, fishing, horse riding and more!

PRICES ARE IN NZ$. Please note most of these prices are ex Auckland and subject to currency fluctuations, flight availability and dates of travel. High season surcharges may apply.
