Located on the southern tip of Tahiti Iti, and a lazy 1½ hr drive from Pape’ete is the peaceful and serene Vanira Lodge. The lodge is located on Tahiti’s southern peninsula, in the hills above Teahupoo, an exceptional two hectare site between the mountain and the ocean, with a 180° view over the lagoon, harbours nine bungalows directly inspired by Polynesian building traditions.
Vanira offers you all the spirit of Polynesia with traditional excellence in Tahitian hospitality - AND SURF!
Vanira has a wide variety of bungalows and provide accommodation for all, ranging from small bungalows to larger group or family bungalows. These bungalows have a traditional style and look set amongst the beautiful jungle. Raw materials are tampered with as little as possible: natural branches with their bark removed, sawn solid wood, walls made of river-rolled stones. Soft lines are everywhere, from the roofs in the shape of a turtle shell or a wave, to the curved walls that create a space that is both cozy and unique. The limit between the inside and the outside is deliberately blurred: bathrooms have a foot in each world, living-rooms have an open balcony or, more traditionally, a bay window that opens onto a wooden deck. Built by local craftsmen in order to blend with the landscape and let you enjoy the surrounding nature, these “fare” all have a clear view of the ocean.
You can choose your own universe from our three types of bungalows: the standard “Nature” bungalows with an open feel and look to them, the ”Spa” bungalows are air-conditioned and have a luxurious Jacuzzi with an ocean view and the “sundeck” bungalows offer a private garden.
Nearly all room surround the swimming pool which has the most amazing view over the lagoon and surf breaks beyond. The lodge also offers bikes, kayaks and snorkelling equipment to explore the shoreline and underwater lagoons out front.
Surf several different reef breaks that cater to different levels of experience. How much challenge you want to handle or just how deep you want to get is up to you! Just a 5 min boat ride from the most remote and beautiful surf resort in Polynesia, they allow surfers several ways to surf the classic Tahitian waves of the area in comfort and safety. Local surf guides are available, with fast and reliable boats (radios, safety gear), help ensure your surf is both safe and fun. Snorkelling/fishing trips, golf, horse riding and rain forest trips and other tours are also available.
